First Trip To The Zoo

Cole took his first visit to the Minnesota Zoo this week. ALthough he slept through most of the trip, his big sister had fun showing him around.

2 Weeks Old and Counting

Well Coleman is now a little over two weeks old. He has been much more alert this week, opening his eyes wide, and moving his arms and head all over the place. He has done pretty well sleeping at night, although he likes to keep his daddy up once in a while.

Kylee in her "Big Sister" shirt that she picked out herself.

Kylee's Cinderella dress (that she has worn pretty much every day this week).

Settling in at home

Some more photos of our growing family. Cole has been doing well, and Kylee makes sure he has everything he needs. Coleman has been trying out all his new gadgets, includign the swing and rocker. He also enjoys the shoulder sling, which mommy can carry him around in while doing things around the house.

Home Sweet Home

The family is back at home, and Cole is getting used to his new surroundings. He is pretty much unimpressed at this point, as he continues his routine of sleep, eat, dirty diaper, repeat. Kylee is such a great helper and is proud to be the big sister. She offers Coleman plenty of kisses on the forehead and tummy.

Last Day at the Hospital

Coleman did well during his stay in the hospital. He is a very easy going little guy. He has lost almost a pound, which is normal around the third day of life. The pediatrician says that the 3rd day is the low point for weight. We started to get him ready for the first trip home. He put on his first onesie (thanks Dave and Kari) and the outfit that Amy and Ryan picked out, and it was time to head home.

First Eyes Open Picture

An interesting side note: In reviewing pictures of Kylee during her hospital stay, we realized that we were given the exact same hospital room at Methodist for BOTH of our babies. Coincidence??? The only negative about this is that room 324 also happens to be the SMALLEST room that Methodist has in the birth center. At least this is what the nurses tell us.

Coleman Videos

A couple very short videos of Cole ....

Introducing Coleman Matthew Myer

The big surprise has finally arrived, and it is a boy! Coleman Matthew Myer was born on January 9th, 2008 at 8:17 A.M. He weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds (compared to Kylee at 6 pounds, 7 ounces). He is 21 1/2 inches long. Most importantly he seems to be very healthy and content little guy. Cara is doing well in her recovery, and we are enjoying our first hours with Cole. As I write this, I am home for only a brief time to shower, upload some pics of Cole, and head back to be with Cara and Coleman for another night of feeding, burping, sleeping, repeat.... Thank you to all of our visitors so far, we appreciate your time and your thoughts. We are anxious to bring Cole home with us, but at the same time do not want to rush Cara home before she has recovered enough to leave. Ok, enough babbling on my part, on to the pictures....

Counting Down the Hours

We spent the evening before delivery day at my Parents house. We had some pizza and spent some time with Kylee, as she will be staying with family while we are at the hospital. 9 months of waiting, planning, preparing, worrying, etc. are over with. Now it is time to bring another little one into the family. I think Kylee will make a great big sister.

Baby Prep (The Calm Before The Storm)

The Baby's room is ready, now we just need a baby. That will all happen tomorrow, as a new and exciting chapter in our family will begin. Cara and I have chosen to wait to find out the gender of the baby, so tomorrow will be a big surprise either way. No, I can't share the names with you, I am sworn to secrecy, but that announcement will come in the next post.

Children's Museum

We headed out to St. Paul with Darren, Julie, Aidan & Darren's Parents this afternoon to play at the Children's Museum. Kylee and Aidan played until they nearly dropped.

Rock Star In Training

Our good friends Darren and Julie were in town for new years, and they stopped by for a visit today with their adorable son Aidan. We broke out the Rock Band game for the xbox 360, and Aidan took his shot at the drum kit. The kid is a natural. Kylee also loves to play the drums on this game, and makes daddy play guitar or sing while she plays.
